Chili Meatballs
542 grams lean beef steak mince
2 TBS thyme
1 egg
½ TBS salt
1 TBS Pepper
2 TBS Oregano
1 small onion (Or ½ onion)- finely chopped
2 slice of bread (make into breadcrumbs)
Chili meatballs notes: Instead of using Tarragon I used Oregano. I used a whole small onion very finely chopped. And I only used two slices of bread and I made them into breadcrumbs. Also with this recipe I added a sauce which is done separately and served on a bed of rice.
Add all the above ingredients onto a bowl, make sure the onion is finely chopped; mush them all up so they are combined. Then measure out the meatballs with a table spoon, or however big you want them, make sure they are all the same size or you will have cooking issues
Put into an oven dish like the picture, I put it on 180 degrees Celsius (which is 356 Fahrenheit), on Bake, until cooked.
The sauce:
1 TBS chili sauce
1 can of chopped tomatoes, or fresh tomatoes if you want
1 can of tomato puree
4 TBS parsley
Pepper (optional)
Combine all ingredients, once meat balls are cooked all you have to do is heat up the sauce. If it is too spicy for you then I recommend a teaspoon or brown sugar, that should absorb a bit of the spiciness! (Or just use a teaspoon of chili sauce instead of a tablespoon)
Also while the meatballs are cooking, I made one ½ cups of rice to go with it (we were out of spaghetti)
Rice:
1 ½ cups
Once cooked add a tablespoon of butter and a teaspoon of green herb stock, and parsley for added flavour! Tastes excellent!
