The Blackburn Arms in Blackburn Hamlet (part of the Greater Ottawa City)
Date - Sunday, June 1, 2008 after Church Stars - 5 stars for Pub food - We each had the same thing. Fish n Chips.....but with a twist to it. We asked for only half the fries and that salad fill the rest of the plate. The generous portion of cod was lightly battered and not greasy. The fries were crisp and delicious with cider vinegar on them. Nothing special about the salad except the house dressing (on the side) which was a nice marriage of garlic and ginger.
The owner himself served us and was attentive without being intrusive.
I had a soft drink with my meal. The bill including tax was $19.25. I gave him $23.00.
I go there often for lunch as the food is always fresh, never made from frozen and the service is great. You have to wait a little longer for fresh food, but it's worth it.
The place itself is in need of re-decorating, but who really cares when your tummy is happy. Also, the music is not intrusive in the daytime. That is important to me.
