If you prefer the lighter taste of "hot cocoa"... - 2 1/2 cups milk
- 8 TBS sugar
- 3 TBS cocoa powder (more if you like it "darker")
- 1/8 TSP vanilla
Heat 2 1/2 cups of milk in a sacuepan. Mix sugar and cocoa powder with a fork or whisk in a small bowl. Whisk into milk, and continue to heat, stirring frequently, until steamy. Add vanilla and serve. Makes about two mugsful. If you like the richer actual "hot chocolate"... - 2 1/2 cups milk
- 3-4 TBS sugar
- Dark chocolate, about 6 TBS worth of fine slivers for a modestly rich drink
- 1/8 TSP vanilla
Heat milk as above, except add sugar right away and sliver dark chocolate with a knife into the milk as it warms, stirring constantly. Add the chocolate to your taste. Heat, stirring, until the slivers are all melted. Add vanilla and serve.
